Warning: New Information Disclosure For Older Diabetics: You Need To Be Tested Promptly

One in three older diabetics (over 50) likely have a serious leg disease that could cost their limb, or their life and need to be tested.

The condition is called peripheral arterial disease or PAD.

Relatively simple test of checking blood pressure at the ankle.

If significantly lower than blood pressure in the arm, then you may have PAD narrowing leg arteries and slowly choking off blood flow.

Severe PAD danger is it can lead to amputation. Any age can have it, and there are likely no symptoms to warn you.

You may have to ask for the test since many doctors are not aware of it yet.

There are therapies available that can help.

If your leg arteries are clogged it is a warning your heart arteries are also clogged. This indicates you have quadruple the risk of a heart attack or stroke and may need to implement therapy.
