Changes Every Day, That's Why We Do Not Do A Book "Based on the research and information I have on August 06 the following makes sense to me," Harlan Jacobsen Copyright © 2006 |

We have seen signs that the major cause of all sorts of Modern Man diseases (not just diabetes) is body inflammation. Inflammation is something your body does to help rid of a foreign invader potentially doing your body harm. We have been looking and heavy research for clues as to what is most likely to be causing body inflammation (which is contributing to insulin resistance, arthritis circulation problems etc.) In addition we have been keeping an alert eye open for everything that cuts body inflammation. It is now obvious from repeated studies, that there is no doubt that cinnamon is effective in several ways to helping diabetes, not just lowering your glucose levels 10 to 30 percent. It also helps in your ph balance since it is quite alkaline A recent study by the USDA shows 2 teaspoons a day of cinnamon lowers glucose plus Triglycerides, (blood fat) and cholesterol, but best of all helps cut inflammation. The original main study (there have been several) used 3 1/3 teaspoons of cinnamon per day. It takes 40 days to accumulate and register the full effect. More than one teaspoon a day that study said did not seem to not improve the results. Toxicity does not seem to be a problem though using water soluble version seems to be a requirement.Very few studies so far on cloves but it appears from early studies 36 people on this and the ground cloves serve to improve insulin function and lower glucose levels, triglycerides and total cholesterol in the same range almost as good as cinnamon, used in these studies was under one teaspoon per day of ground cloves. Best way to take both of these seems to be adding to a liquid drink.Though that just seems to be what was used and is working. Best inflammation fighter and all around helpful is flavonoids and anti oxidants. We will be doing an article on these but keep in mind, Dark chocolate cocoa powder, especially processed is out doing even blue berries. See our articles (now extensive) on using dark chocolate cocoa.Add in to what your eating and you are drinking. Seems the chocolate affect lasts 6 hours, so I am eating two, (put teaspoon in special flaxseed, brewers yeasts, acguino (a non luten grain from the Peru Andes) benefil fiber mixture stirred with half and half (my only remaining dairy except whole fat yogurt in my pudding and on my breakfast food topped with cinnamon.) and then in the evening I do my chocolate pudding desert, (made with full fat yogurt and dark chocolate) see recipe in issue three or the web, Afternoons I do a cup of hot chocolate with two teaspoons, a half teaspoon of cinnamon and a couple shakes of cayenne pepper.Three servings daily of dark cocoa. Plan to start working in same amount of ground cloves. The adding in a pinch of cayenne pepper or other capsaicin such as Tabasco sauce, chilly peppers etc., livens it up. Montezuma used a mixture of hot spices and reserved it for royalty as a "drink of the Gods". We have two books on the curative powers of capsaicin (active ingredient in cayenne pepper etc) and intend to articles on how you can use it to help your diabetes. For now just liven up your dark chocolate cocoa enough to "speed up" your metabolism with a little capsaicin. Recent book says you should slow down your metabolism, but not doped out the reasoning on that one yet.Getting old, I thought I more likely needed a little speeding up, but will look into that . Be realistic about your expectations.Remember, BG readings may turn out to be an insignificant portion of overcoming diabetes, the dark chocolate cocoa will open up your pipes and will improve your blood pressure. This opening up your plumbing is what apparently the factor that works in the study showing a huge drop in deaths of those using the cocoa. The San Diego study using a half grapefruit to lower blood sugar 20% eaten before meals makes a lot of sense to me, since I see grape fruit very high on the "alkaline" body affect chart. A friend of mine wont eat citrus because it was acid and would add to his "acid reflux" digestion problem. pH factor actually has nothing to do with stomach acid but citrus including lemons, all wind up as being "alkaline" in affect on your body.If you do three things that each drop your BG – 20% do not expect a 60% total drop. They do not seem to be additive to any great extent. Pharmaceuticals usually have an affect in a day or two. Cinnamon, Dark Chocolate, Cloves, Capsaicin, etc… may take as long as forty days to show full affect. Do not bet the ball game on pleasing the BG meter – there is a lot of other factors just and as maybe even more important. One of these is blood pressure and another is triglycerides which is how much fat you have floating around in your blood steam. Go to Wal-Mart or many drug stores have free blood pressure machines. Start checking and following your blood pressure progress. Dark Chocolate has very little caffeine, but I note it really wakes up my mental processes. It lists four other caffeine type components in dark chocolate but is not in other drinks for comparison. It really improves my thinking or problem solving abilities. Whatever it is, it works and there have been dozens of "chocolate" studies, all arriving at the similar results. It works in affecting darn near everything you have been hoping to affect. You wont find anyone with a prescription drug that tops this. Do you know that many prescription drugs were the company just figuring out what ingredient or component, (substance) was in a supplement etc that did a natural cure affect. Then they produce just that substance and the medical fraternity prescribe it to you and they all make big bucks selling you what you can still get in its original source for peanuts. I received a stock promotion thing about a company that was a great stock buy because they were figuring out what was in cinnamon that helped diabetes and were going to market that substance and make big bucks. Your doctor then would apparently prescribe it, your pharmacist would sell it to you and nobody would tell you that you can get the same thing in cinnamon for practically nothing. You will soon hear them announce this "new" substance they have isolated, as a big new miracle drug The inflammation fighting of all these should start to show results, not only in diabetes (Keep it from progressing by stopping increasing insulin resistance) but in arthritis, cardio vascular and maybe even Alzheimer's since we are starting to see some who now maybe advanced as "Type 3" diabetes. Two others studies need to be brought up as reminders. Nearly all of these things (cinnamon, cloves, etc…) are inexpensive and actually (even each alone) lower your blood sugar more than most of the expensive medications your doctor prescribes such as Metformin also called Gluocophage which have drastic side affects, To our knowledge these common substances such as apple cider vinegar have been around for centuries and have been used extensively without adverse side affects. The ASU study used two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar before meals, resulting in over a 20% percent in drop in BG. This is not easy to take and we recommend you make a salad dressing using apple cider vinegar and virgin olive oil. There is no value to this vinegar program unless we can get you to use it regularly.Another party suggests that lemon juice works as well as the apple cider vinegar but have not seen anything substantiating that. Next in the simpler to take is the study showing two handfuls of walnuts a day will lower BG up to 20%.This is a great source of mega 3 fats (don't worry about eating Omega 3 adding to your weight problem. You need all the Omega 3 you can get to balance off the large amounts of Omega 6. This is very easy to do. We also add large amounts of walnuts to our pemmican recipes. Almonds work as substitutes but DO NOT substitute peanuts or cashews. A study out last week shows fiber cuts inflammation big time. The easy one that makes sense is adding Psyllium Husks Fiber to your routine before each meal. The problem with a diabetes food processing is sugar is released from most foods faster in digestion than the body can handle it.By adding fiber with each meal in the form of Psyllium Husks (most people know this as Metamucil, but Metamucil contains some sugar, other makes such as Konsgl (available at Walgreens) contain the fiber but no sugar. It requires only about a teaspoon mixed in glass of water before meals to lower blood sugar peaks by as much as 20%. This also makes you "regular" and with your cave man, more vegetables diet this should no longer be one of your problems.I also found a new "Benefiber" which I have no information, but claims to be 100% natural fiber which you can mix with anything, including foods or drinks. One teaspoon does it (up to 3 times a day) and you do not notice it you can even put it in coffee. Got mine at Costco – much easier to take than Psyllium. The big news is that this also cuts inflammation and I am really enthused about pushing something that lowers both blood sugar and inflammation.Just read a study confirming that chromium picolinate really helps lower BG 20% and helps with weight, (with or without medication.) It said the 1000 mg in the study did not seem to show any toxicity. This was previously considered a high level. Why do I and others write so much about getting off diabetes medication?I can show you page after page of studies that show some really amzingly bad side affects of common prescribed drugs. For example – I was on Metformin also known as Gloucophage. (banned in Canada, was banned in US for a year but reinstated) That was not quite cutting my BG – (blood glucose) enough. My doctor prescribed a combination Gloucophage (Metformin) and a sulfornglures that forces your pancreas to make "extra insulin". Looking that combinations up, I found diabetic studies showing diabetic deaths went up 91% in those taking the combinations. This was the same study the FDA used to "Approve" the medication. I went into Hypoglycemic Shock twice (too low a blood sugar level) (once at a movie) and immediately quit all medication as being more hazardous to my health than the disease. (what if that happened while I was driving) My foot doctor had recommended a substance to help my foot neuropathy. After taking it for some time a study came out that showed no one died on the placebo, but 6 on the pill in the study of this substance died. I got off of this, quick, but since then I have found out that the six that died were those that had previous heart attacks and never should have been on the study. So I plan to resume it soon, (Arginine) since I have $30 worth on hand, and a new book I just got says it is essential to control you inflammation affects. More on that after I go back on taking it. It was supposed to have helped with my neuropathy but I cured that during a period I was not taking it so it gets no credit.>One medical writer in April 06 that I subscribed to took figures from a report showing 29 deaths of diabetics per 1000 patients taking the common most prescribed diabetes drugs. Multiplying this out against 2001 sales he comes up with 78,500 diabetics died from diabetic medication in 2001. It took 2 to 3 weeks of experimenting with supplements and some of these other steps I list here to get my BG below what it had been on medication. I went off the medication by cutting the pills in half originally and then when I got below the levels obtained previously with full medication I went off completely. My doctor said that with my new low levels I was getting with out medications, that this was not a problem. Medicare saves a lot of money on not buying me medication, and I live longer (its working so far). My daughter will put out a memorial issue of the Diabetes newspaper and my son will do a memorial page for me on the web site so you will know if all this stuff I am doing stops working.
