The reason insulin is having little affect on getting body cells to accept sugar
is likely because much of the insulin is waylaid because of FAT CELLS.
There seems to be limited "Insulin Resistance" when there are
"no Fat Cells Around". You have to look long and hard to
find a person who was never fat that has "Insulin Resistance"
(diabetes)
If you are 50 pounds overweight and you lose 10 pounds your insulin resistance
and affect on your blood sugar seems to be hardly affected at all. If the
"fat is the problem" theory were to hold up you would expect your
improvement to be 20%. Instead it is almost nil.
One theory says that when you get overly fat, you get fat around your liver.
When you lose all of your fat the liver fat is the last to go, and until it
goes, fat loss does not have the total hoped for affect. Not sure if that is
true but something like that is going on here apparently.
You will note some improvement as you lose weight in your blood sugar control,
particularly when you get to where you have lost 10% of your body weight in
fat.
Until you get there in weight loss, do not expect much noticeable improvement in
controlling your blood sugar as a result of all your effort in accomplishing
weight loss.
Fat cells somehow, when around for a while, seems to me, obviously
have an affect
on Insulin regulating glucose acceptance by cells by what looks like
at least 50% to 90%..
Reading on the subject I find out that all of these fat cells you have
added on to your body are putting fatty acids into your blood stream.
The presence of these fatty acids in your blood stream are what is
telling your body cells to AVOID ABSORBING GLUCOSE.
Your insulin making pancreas also interprets these fatty acids as a
signal to slow down production of Insulin.

for Your Diabetes Producing Factors
Telling Your Body Cells To Refuse Glucose
Slowing Down Production of Insulin.
Makes Your Cholesterol Higher
Affects High Blood Pressure
Causes Elevated Triglyceride
Maybe it should be called the "FAT AFFECT" instead
of generating "insulin resistance."
In other words it looks to me like when you have a lot of fat
cells producing these fatty acids in the blood the insulin
becomes ineffective with normal cells refusing absorbing glucose
over time and requires more and more insulin. At the same time
telling your pancreas to make less insulin.
The very thing that caused the present fat cells to be produced
was insulin, the fat making hormone.
Maybe this is the self regulating body system that says enough
fat already, hereafter it is going to take double or more the
insulin to make a regular cell into a fat cell. The cells are
going to be leery of accepting sugar and we are slowing down the
fat making hormone "insulin".
Therefore my conclusion is that the cells resistance to insulin
may be they are being enabled to ward off being easily converted
to a fat cell...not to ward off blood sugar acceptance, but when
you get one you get the other since unfortunately insulin plays
the dual role.
This automatic fat slow down mode happens when your fat cells
release fatty acids and this diminishes the affect of insulin's ability in continued fat making (and blood sugar acceptance). (and
also inhibits excessive insulin)
This looks like an automatic system to me. Let me tell you a
story about bees that may help.
A honey bee has a very small brain. They wondered how this
little brain when bringing in a load of nectar could make the
right decision whether he needed to make honey out of his incoming
load, or did he need to make wax.
Turns out he did not have to make a decision, it was automatic...
If he flew in and he had to wait around because there were no wax
storage cells ready and he had to wait for a while in line to
unload, a hormone automatically turned the nectar to wax. If he
got right in it was honey. This illustrates what we refer to here
as an "automatic" process.
When you get an abundance of fat cells you get an abundance of
fatty acids entered into your blood stream. This presence automatically causes cells to start to refuse glucose. Presence of
these fatty acids (produced by your fat cells) into your blood
stream automatically tells the pancreas to reduce the amount of
Insulin available to force glucose acceptance and cell conversion
to fat cells.
Understanding that.......
Simple Solution
DUMP YOUR BODY FAT
Nobody said that was going to be easy but it is what you
need to do.
Everything else you do is insignificant compared to the importance
of this single simple thing. Get rid of all the fat cells on your
body, at least 10% or your body weight in the next six months.
Do that and your diabetes should be almost "history"
in six months.
NOTE:....An estimated less then 5% of Type
2 diabetics are not obese or even over weight. This 5% have diabetes as
a result of an entirely different set of problems and causes which are
understandable. To read about that go here.
Your fat likely started because of an inherited caveman system to store
"fat" during the "plentiful season" and draw the fat
down to make it thru and survive the scant food season.
Somehow your body got the signal this was the plentiful season and you
started storing fat. You never came to the "Scant food season' so you
just kept right on packing it on.
Apparently your body needs to be convinced you are no longer
"adding" fat, you are drawing it down like the caveman did over
the (winter) scarce food season.
Maybe it just takes the whole "scarce food" caveman inherited
draw down season to convince it "fat making season" is over.
If you go in later with a binge of carbohydrate and starch, like spring has
arrived, you will put it back into "store fat now" mode once more.
Therefore beware of binges....like the alcoholic, all it takes is a start
and you are off and running again.
Your body apparently associates high starch and sugar (only available to
caveman in spring growing season) as the start of the plentiful food
season, and switches on the store fat now.
Bears have this very strongly, store fat now season is life or death for
them.
A person that raises reindeer in US for Christmas events says that his reindeer eat like crazy in the summer and in
the winter will go days without eating at all, even with plenty of food in
front of them.
This is all automatic programming inherited by the reindeer to survive. The
reindeer knows even with food available you go with the program.
We do not know or are ignoring the signals our programming is giving us.
We as modern man inherited from our ancestors this very powerful fat storage
survival instinct and we need to learn and figure out how to work with it.
Not fight it.
Yes, just like the deer and the bear we have inherited a store food (fat)
thing that is automatic also. We just have to figure out what turns it off
and on. This is a survival gene that is very strong in many people. Fighting
it is a losing battle.
You have to learn to work with it..... With Diabetes and Obesity we have it mixed up to our detriment.
For now...get rid of the fat...let your body know the high carb high starch
food storage (plant growing season) is over, this is the draw down season,
where what is available for eating is mainly nuts, etc and very skinny
animals and we should run now partly on the stored fat.
As the fat is drawn down, your blood sugar should get some easier to get
under control. You may have to get rid of all of the body fat to get back to
normal.
