Discovered a Great Web Site, and Book That Covers Our Subject Superbly. The book, and Site, http://www.schwarzbeinprinciple.com/pgs/dr_schw/sp_I_intro.html The Book, Entitled the "Schwarzbein Principle,: (I Just got a copy of book 2) These are not really diabetes books, they are general education on maybe more then you wanted to know, especially book two is a lot of medical education on glands exhausting, etc. but if you really want to get into this, good background. Disagree on her listing Canola Oil and Soy as acceptable, and a couple of her book reviewers disagreed with that also, but otherwise okay, Here I bring you a few selected paragraphs from Dr. Schwarzbeins Web page which our newspaper readers may never see, on how she got into this and background for writing the book. So impressed with the site I want to bring some of the highlights of her page on how she got into this, for our newspaper readers who may never get to the site... Her first assignment as a newly graduated doctor, was to a facility known for treating diabetics. We recommend you read her whole article but here are a few paragraphs starting with what she was seeing as treatment for diabetics. From her site...... These newly diagnosed diabetics were put on the American Diabetes Association (ADA) diet-a low-calorie, high-carbohydrate, low-fat, low-protein program. The diet stressed fruit, milk, bread and very little fat. It was very complicated. They had to measure everything they ate-proteins and fats, as well as carbohydrates. These patients had stuck to this diet, only to see their conditions worsen. Several paragraphs omitted for space This ADA diet is my opinion little short of a crime....(and have said this many times) to foster this on millions of unsuspecting diabetics.... many Doctors have petitioned them to change it.... this is the outfit they send most of your fund raising "walks" money to. (since the 40's)Back to her article paragraph highlights Diabetes was considered genetic. The fact that these patients had gotten worse was considered part of the progressive genetic nature of the disease. It was thought that once a person developed diabetes, it could not be reversed. Part of the "standard of care" was to keep diabetics' blood sugar under control to enable them to live relatively normal lives. Physicians manipulated insulin doses to bring patients' blood sugars down. But my patients complained, "When my other doctors gave me insulin, I gained weight." That made sense because insulin is a fat-storing hormone. The patients' weight gain along with high insulin levels had caused increased blood pressure.(emphasis added) Many had been prescribed drugs to lower blood pressure, which in some cases made their blood sugars worse. It was a vicious cycle. They injected insulin, but their blood-sugar levels did not improve. They gained weight and required more insulin. And their cholesterol levels were getting worse. Here were patients who had been accidentally diagnosed with diabetes when they felt relatively well, and now, after following the "standard of diabetes care," they felt terrible. After listening to their stories I thought, My God, we are making diabetics worse! This apparently was the turning point for the Doctor..... we just run high light paragraphs here... Requiring diabetics with high blood-sugar levels to follow a high-sugar diet did not make sense. But how could I challenge the ADA? I reasoned that the ADA diet must have been thoroughly researched- they could not be recommending diets that were making people sicker! But all of my Type II diabetic patients returned with the same observations: The ADA diet was causing their blood sugars to rise to dangerous levels. Editors Note: Then she made some opposite diet changes.. By cutting carbohydrates from their diets and adding proteins and fats, most patients (after an initial body-water loss) started losing one to two pounds of body fat per week. They ate fats and lost body fat. All came back to me and said, "I don't understand. I got fatter when I didn't eat fat. Now I'm eating fat and I'm losing weight." This is the problem we have getting people to understand and/or accept, this is exactly backwards from what they have been told...everywhere.....another paragraph.... Prior to this, these patients had high blood sugars, abnormal cholesterol panels, high blood pressure, weight gain, fatigue and constant hunger. As they followed the new dietary program their blood sugars normalized, so they were able to get off insulin and/or oral hypoglycemic agents (which treat high blood sugar). Their cholesterol levels improved, so I stopped their cholesterol-lowering medication. Their blood pressures came down, so I stopped their blood pressure medication. I was able to eliminate most of their drugs. They lost body fat and gained muscle mass. Their energy improved. They were not going hungry anymore. They felt great.
What I obtained was book two since reviewers said it contained book one plus.
Very long book two, and suggest you wont wade thru it, too much medical School technicality's but may be Okay Reference, Do Not Agree With Some Of Her Food Recommendations etc. You will be more confused then ever. Get At Library To Glance Thru This.
This web address below is the article on how she came to write the book.. which should connect you to the site.
It took me six years of diabetes reading and research and looking for the basis of the disease, to understand fully what brings it on, how it all ties together. It became apparent early on, if I can really understand the cause, then I have gone a long way towards the fix.
The medical athorities claim no one knows what causes the diabetes, but after reading Weston Prices scientifically documented studies from the thirties, I thought thats pretty lame, obvious as the nose on your face. They not only had the cause of diabetes proven, in the thirties, they had doped out the fix that was used to make you a survivor, and worked just fine before insulin.
With the advent of Insulin they no longer treated and/or worked or stopped the cause, they changed over to treating diabetes as a symptom, and treating its effect symptom, (with insulin shots and/or medication, ) not treating its over all cause. Turns out that the standard 30's (before "artificial insulin symptoms fix") this treat the cause fix, took care of diabetes, it incidently took care of degenerative diseases as well. Since then, as I have now finally realized, It was all one cause, (all one ice berg) and their 30's treatment disposed of the iceberg, and the all in one (damage) cause. Messing with the Tips of the iceberg (it doesn't matter which you treat) as nearly all do now, with medication and shots, does NOTHING for your life expectancy, it grows the iceberg, and hastens your demise, proven in recent studies. My first realization was my spending a year on unravelling how obesity and diabetes were tied together, and when fully clear on the cause of one, it became perfectly clear, the cause was identical. All part of the same ice berg.
It took a couple more years, to where I now understand what we will die 15 years early of, is one of the degenerative ice berg attached diseases, and thats your doctor telling you or verifying that statistic for all his diabetic patients. Now we have expanded it.... fix diabetes correclty, etc. you melt your ice berg and they all go..
autoimmune disease, the diabetes is just a tip that happend to pop above water first or right behind your obesity. This Iceberg illustrated here as a whole, is what kills unsuspecting diabetics, solely busily working at controlling their diabetes/and or obesity.
If the iceberg stays,...... odds are 85% or better they say, one of those "Degenerative Disease" tips sinks my ship. (look it up yourself.)
Actually, what I am telling you is really, to get busy to melt your iceberg, and when it goes. not only your diabetes goes, now all the other dangerous tips go with it. Elsewhere I will try to explain clearly what your iceberg is, we just remind you now once again, your life depends on the getting rid of your iceberg. You may have been reading what I been telling you and think it is a good diabetes fix but it really unbeknown to you til this article now. is it has been all along the iceberg fix. Fixing diabetes this way, unbeknown, til now, you are actually in doing this program, working what will fix it all.
the 15 years life expectancy you lost with the diagnosis of Diabetes.
