Perchloroethylene, the villain nick named, "perc", the (California state has listed as a carcinogen) chemical used by over 85% of dry cleaners, and is listed by the Canadian Environmental Protection Act as a persistent, bio-accumulative chemical that is toxic to the environment.

The machines are often twice as expensive and more hand pre spotting is necessary, so you may pay slightly more for your cleaning bill.
